De-Stress Tools Overview

Your Daily® offers four types of tools to help regulate your nervous system. Here's what each one does and when to use it.

The Four Types of Tools

Somatic Exercises

Body-based movements that help release stored tension and regulate your nervous system.

What they do:

  • Release physical tension and activation
  • Help complete the stress cycle
  • Signal safety to your nervous system through movement
  • Gently re-energize when you're feeling shut down

When to use them:

  • When you feel tense, restless, or activated
  • When you're feeling foggy or shut down
  • As part of your daily practice
  • After stressful events

How to use them:

  • Actually do the movements - don't just watch
  • Even if it feels awkward, keep going
  • Notice how you feel afterward
  • You can filter exercises by what you're currently feeling

Meditations

Guided and unguided practices that help calm your stress response.

What they do:

  • Calm racing thoughts
  • Create a sense of safety and grounding
  • Support emotional regulation
  • Help your body shift into rest mode

When to use them:

  • When your thoughts are racing
  • When you need to feel grounded
  • Before bed to support sleep
  • As part of a daily practice

Types available:

  • Guided meditations with instruction
  • Meditation timers with calming background music for freeform practice

Journal Prompts

Reflective writing exercises to process emotions and gain insight.

What they do:

  • Help you process thoughts and feelings
  • Provide structure for reflection
  • Support emotional awareness
  • Offer a safe outlet for difficult emotions

When to use them:

  • When you need to process emotions
  • When you're feeling stuck
  • To explore patterns in your experience
  • As part of regular self-reflection

How to use them:

  • Write freely - there's no "right" answer
  • You can filter prompts by current emotions
  • Use them in your own journal or notes app

Binaural Beats

Audio tracks designed to help your brain shift into specific states.

What they do:

  • Support relaxation and calm
  • Enhance focus
  • Promote healing states
  • Aid sleep

When to use them:

  • While working or studying (focus tracks)
  • During relaxation time
  • Before or during sleep
  • Anytime you need background support

How to use them:

  • Use headphones for best effect
  • Play them in the background while doing other activities
  • Choose tracks based on what state you want to support

Filtering Tools

Many tool categories let you filter by how you're currently feeling using bubble buttons at the top of the screen. This helps you find exactly what you need in the moment.

Getting Recommendations

Not sure which tool to use? Two easy ways to get personalized recommendations:

  1. Check-In - Quick tool suggestions based on how you're feeling
  2. AI Health Coach - Conversational support with specific recommendations

Building Your Practice

You don't need to use all the tools. Try different ones and see what resonates with your body. Most people find 1-2 favorites they return to regularly.

The key is consistency - even 2-5 minutes daily makes a difference.
